Roullete, also known as Roulette, has been bringing glamour and mystery to casino-goers since the 17th century. Its simple rules and relative ease of play make it a great choice for new gamblers, but it provides a surprising level of depth for serious players with the right betting strategy.
There are several different types of Roulette games available, each with their own unique rules and odds. In addition to traditional European and American versions, you can also play variations such as Double Ball, Multi-Wheel and Live dealer games.
Regardless of the Roulette variation you choose, the essential aim remains the same: to correctly guess where the ball will land on the table. The Roulette wheel consists of a solid wooden disk slightly convex in shape with a metal or plastic rim around which are placed a series of compartments called canoes by roulette croupiers. Thirty-six of these are numbered non-consecutively from 1 to 36 while a compartment painted green carries the number 0.
The Roulette table contains a number map, or tableau, showing all possible bet combinations and their corresponding odds. Each bet type can be backed with a color (red and black), or a section of the wheel (odd and even, high and low). The bets are made by placing colored chips on the table – each player receives a different color to help them identify their bets from those of others at the table.
Once you’ve chosen where to place your bets, the dealer will spin the roulette ball and it will stop in one of the colored pockets. The winning bets will be highlighted and the loosing ones cleared off the table before the process begins again. When you’ve finished playing Roulette, simply remove all your Roulette chips from the table and hand them to the dealer who will exchange them for normal casino chips.
Roulette is a game of chance, so you should only bet with money that you can afford to lose. If you’re a beginner, start by wagering on ‘outside bets’ that cover groups of numbers rather than individual digits. This will lower your stakes and give you a higher probability of winning. You can also use the James Bond strategy, which combines bets to improve your odds of winning, but it requires a sizeable bankroll.
